the Sahara

One of the highlight of the trip is being in the Sahara Desert! The sand was a lot redder than I imagined it to be. The picture doesn't capture that. We rode out on our camels an entire 6K out from where we stayed. Our butts were really sore from the short ride. Camels go really slow. It took us about 2 hrs, but we took the scenic route, so it took a little longer. On the way back, we took a more direct route and it took 1.5hrs. Our tour guide walked instead. He knew how much your butt would hurt afterwards.


We slept out at night and it was cold, but beautiful. I've never seen so many stars in the night sky. I think we even saw the Milky Way. It was incredible.
