my body is falling apart :(

Yet, another new pain...my left knee has inflammation. It hurt to walk down the stairs or when I get up from a seating position. I went to my sports massage therapist. I wish I could go see him every week, but that's way out of my budget. I saw him on Friday. He said I can't do long runs until I don't feel any pain when I squat down. I've been using a a heat pad, which he let me borrow. The heat is suppose to help the swelling heal by getting more blood around the tendon around my patella. More blood means more healing. I ran last Monday and I've taken a whole week off now. I will try to run a short distance tomorrow and see how that goes. Needless to say I did not do the Chinatown 5K race. Good thing, since it was raining pretty hard on Sunday. I think I can still do Big Sur. He said I need to do more cross-training or I'll be re-injurying myself over and over again. After Big Sur, I'm going to concentrate on cross-training and strength training. It's the only way, if I want to keep running for the long-haul. My knee is doing much better today than last week.

heavy rain, light rain

My alarm went off around 6:15am. I heard the rain beat against my window. Ugh rain, should I run? Maybe I can do the 14mile on the treadmill. Maybe I can take the yoga class and do some treadmill. Maybe I'll just stay in bed and sleep in late. Oh, but I ate that big plate of Pad ke mao a the Basil last night, all the carbs will turn into fat. 6:47am, I'm getting up. Maybe the rain won't be so bad in San Francisco. As I was driving, I was thinking of turning around and going home. It was pouring pretty hard. I'm on the bridge now. There is no turning back. I get to our regular meeting spot, there were about 6 of us in our pace group. We braved the rain. We ran! I ended up running about 7 miles on my own. It took me about 3 hrs to finish 14miles. Yes, very pathetic pace, but I finished my long run. My shin didn't bother me as much, but I am being more conscience about my form and posture.
