correction on pace

I found out the Stadium to Stadium wasn't exactly 5miles. I was only 4.7mile, so my blogged average pace per mile was incorrect
Corrected is 9:39/mile
Agh...I was so excited that I actually avg 9:04.
More to improve upon.

swim class

I took a swimming class last night. It was a short workshop on freestyle swimming. There is so much to learn, the kicking, the strokes, and most importantly the breathing. I think I need to take a class on breathing. I tend to strain my neck after awhile. Afterwards, I practice some more kicking with the kickboard. The water temp at the Y was supposedly 80 -82F, but it felt much colder than that. I was shivering pretty much the whole time.

My official time fo the Stadium to Stadium was actually 45:23. I came in
40/126 in my age division 30-39
113/411 overall women

I'm happy with the results.

Going to a swimming class later this evening. Want to learn how to do the freestyle stroke properly, so I won't get strains in my neck. It's a one day class.

double dose

I went to the total body challenge class taught at the Y and then yoga afterwards at 24Hr. The cardio portion of the total body challenge was okay. I didn't really get a good workout. I like the body sculpting in the last 20min. My arms are definitely sore from that.

Then I rushed over to 24Hr. Got some great stretches in, especially after the race on Sunday.

I'm thinking of running either a 5K or 10K at Lake Merritt on August 27th.

45:22

The fastest I've ever run!
avg pace: 9:04
crazy huh?
Here are my splits:
mile 1: 10:08
mile 2: 10:14 a gradual hill
mile 3: 9:36
mile 4: 9:31
mile 5: 5:59 (I'm not sure if this is correct. This split is even after I didn't press my stop button on my watch right away! This is pure craziness! I can run a 6min mile?!!)
Stadium to Stadium Race

Blood pressure after 5min
B/P 102/58
pulse 82

At mile 5, my diaphragm was hurting, but my friend and I kept pushing! I felt like puking when we finished and my left groin was hurting. I did a couple of triangle poses before and after the race and that helped with my hip.

Kind of nervous about race tomorrow. Inside of my right knew is bothering me, not sure of cause. Will see if it bothers me after the race tomorrow.

that night the left side of my right knee was in major pain, it is still sore today(Saturday evening). I'm not sure if the shoe is not right with the orthodics or what, but I had to ice my knee today

could be either my Teva, my black Mephisto shoes, or my new running shoes that is causing the problem, not sure, concerned about what is causing the pain

yoga

Tried out a different yoga class tonight at 24hr fitness in Berkeley. It was even worse than Monday's class. The teacher didn't speak clearly. She just go into pose without preparation. It was probably one of the worst exercise class I've ever been to. We were in our resting pose and she leaves/sneaks out and explains we can stay in resting pose as long as we like. It was a weird way to end the class. Needless to say, I'm not going back to her class. 3 people walked out of the class before it ended. It was bad! Thank goodness I have all club membership. I'm going to try out another one.

yoga

Yoga, 8.7.2006.
I went to a yoga class at the Marina 24hr fitness. I like Hatha yoga better, I didn't like the room we were in. It was really dark, you can barely see anything. I couldn't really see what the teacher was doing. I might try the new Wed yoga teacher in Berkeley.

yoga

yoga on Sunday 8.6, I used the my new yoga dvd by Brian Kast. I think that's his name. It was hard doing yoga at home on the carpet with a mat. He went pretty fast. It's definitely not a for beginners. If you haven't done yoga, he doesn't explain how to get into the poses at all. You have to know it beforehand. I got a semi-good workout.

getting back

On Saturday, Aug 5th, I ran 6 miles with my running club. I had an option to run 10, but I opted to take it easy. I have about 8 weeks before my half-marathon race. I think I'll be fine.

date: Saturday, 8.5.2006
time: 8:00am
weather conditions: hot, especially for San Francisco
clothing: pink short sleeve with black shorts
shoes: New Balance 1010, I really don't like those new shoe laces, quite annoying, bought a new pair of shoe laces today
route: started at Sports Basement
distance: 6mi
time: 1:15:22
pace: 12:34 (really show this morning)
meal before hand: had Vietnamese vermicelli noodles with grilled chicken
overall: felt pretty good, a bit tired and hot

yoga

Yoga class at 7am, did a couple of good stretches. My left hip is a bit tight, will have to roll on the foam roller some more later today.

ran

So I finally ran today after a long break. I've almost forgotten how great it feels to run. I got to try on my new New Balance shoes. They felt good for the most part. I think I still need to go to my podiatrist and get them adjusted a bit on the left foot. I think I'm developing a callus on my left big toe.

the stats
